Bird View Shot of Shanghai Disney Resort (Old)

I found these interesting bird view shots of Shanghai Disneyland Resort.
I don't think it is recent. In fact it's from almost one and a half years ago (Sorry that I haven't shared this...)
You can see that the resort has taken shape and the area of the first park has been cleared.

You can compare that with the construction plan below.

  1. Looks like a lot of progress! I read on the Disney Shanghai Resort website they "topped off" or finished the construction of the first building at the resort late last year.

  2. The small island in the central lake reminds me of a violin. Is that on purpose? Do they have any plans for the island yet? They could call it "Fantasia Island", after the famous Disney animated film called "Fantasia" with classical music. I would think they will have a lot of fireworks shows & light festivals on the lake at the resort too.

    1. That's a very interesting finding!
Actually according to the official plan, the island will be home to a administration/service building. Well not as magical as we think.. but it could still look beautiful!

  3. I have read that the Merry-Go-Round in front of the castle will be themed to the animated film "Fantasia" and feature various Disney characters, rather than featuring horses, which is more traditional. I am sure the park will feature horses in other attractions, as there are many.

  4. Lucasfilm, now a part of Disney, just completed their new building in Singapore, its nicknamed the Sandcrawler because it looks similar to the vehicle in Episode IV. Have you seen it?

  5. Will any of the characters featured in the "Garden of Friends" in front of the Enchanted Storybook Castle be featured in an attraction or ride in the park?

    1. Well since the characters in the Garden have not been revealed (expect mouse, with is Ratatouille), I have no idea whether they would be featured in attractions. But I would say that the Ratatouille ride is unlikely to be there when the park opens.

    2. It would have been nice if they added a downloadable image of the glass mosaic(s) of the characters in "The Garden of 12 Friends" on their website. Then everyone can print it out and keep it. It would be a fun way of talking about the new park and the story of each character. Much like your drawing. They could even have special Disney "print stations" to feature high-quality printers. Everyone loves a really great poster or keepsake. Maybe one day they can have the artist(s) autograph the image when they go to the new Disney store or visit the Disney Shanghai Resort. The digital image could also be a nice keepsake for cell phones and other electronic devices & things too. But, I think they are a bit concerned about piracy and copyright infringement. I do think they should consider issuing special pre-opening collectors images, souvenirs, and keepsakes. I think a lot of people would like them and it would be fun. They are not available here in the USA. Do they have any in China?

    3. Well that's an interesting idea! However, I think printing the images at home and bring them to the park for autographs seems a bit unlikely for most people, since it is the image(characters) they adore instead of the artist.
Given that Disney will open a big retail store in Downtown Shanghai before the opening of the park, I would say it is possible to see pre-opening collectors images, souvenirs, and keepsakes (such as collector pins, perhaps?).
