You Can Choose the Design for Shanghai Disney Resort Subway Station!

Shanghai Metro is in charge of building the Subway Station for Shanghai Disney Resort. Recently they present 6 designs, done by professional design groups, and ask people to choose which one they like most. While the winning design may not be the one that's actually going to be built, it is certainly interesting to preview the look of the station itself!

Since the event website is in Chinese, I shall introduce the content to you in English! However, if you are comfortable with reading Chinese, simply go to this website and vote! (
You need a valid Chinese ID number and a phone number to vote.

Now let's take a look at all the designs! (Click on any of them to enlarge!)

Design 1: A Trip to Disney

This design uses elements of Disney Characters to decorate the station.
Its biggest highlight is that they are going to decorate the tunnel with film stills (each one slightly different from the previous) from Disney films so that when the train passes them, they will form an animation. (cool!)

Incredible Dinner at KT's Grill at USS (with Private Viewing Space for Fireworks!)

KT's Grill in Universal Studios Singapore has a great promotion for Annual Pass Holders. They can enjoy 2 dinner sets with the price of one, AND enjoy the private viewing area (the balcony) for the fireworks! This is really great for AP holders with a friend who is new to the park.

For some firework pictures, please go to this post:

Shanghai Disneyland Castle 3D Model Revealed

Update 10/30:

As promised, I have found a much clearer version of the model!
Here it is!

Together is a brief introduction of the technology used for the building of the castle.

"October 11, 2013, Shanghai - As construction of the Shanghai Disney Resort continues on its theme park and associated facility development, innovative new design and technology practices are being used in guiding the development work of the resort, including Building Information Modeling (BIM) project management techniques. These practices assist in maximizing efficiencies in the design and construction phase, and ensure overall coordination of the resort development, targeted to open at the end of 2015. The images released by Shanghai Disney Resort Management Company today illustrate the BIM process for the Enchanted Storybook Castle, the iconic central attraction of the Shanghai Disneyland, the resort's theme park. Through the precise simulation of construction using BIM software, the design team can determine the best design scheme for the many buildings and infrastructure which comprise the resort, then integrate construction schedules to improve operational design features and minimize consumption of construction material to reduce impact on the environment."

A More Detailed Shanghai Disneyland Shopping and Entertainment Area Plan

I was very fortunate to receive this "Shopping and Entertainment Area Plan" from a "Friend of Luke and the Temple of Fun". I would like to express my gratitude to you, though I have yet to know your name.

This plan reveals a lot of new information. Let's take a closer look.

As you may see, there are a theater, a movie theater, and a World of Disney Store. They form a mini "Downtown Disney".

What really excites me in this plan is the decoration of the ground. At the lower part, it writes "Forest" and at the top it says "Sky". The two are connected by "Qi Xi Bridge" and "Galaxy Lighting", as you can see in the center. Now you may not know what  "Qi Xi Bridge" means. Well, it is a folk lore in the Chinese culture, in which "Niu Lang" and "Zhi Nu", a loving couple, meets one another once a year at the bridge. (As illustrated in the picture) The day that they meet is called "Qi Xi" Festival and is celebrated extensively in China. (To learn more, please head to

This will probably be the last construction update of HHN 3 at USS.
There are a few new additions to the sets.

New Sesame Street Spaghetti Space Chase Video (with Vehicle Screen!)

The ride opened about 7 months ago, but I am not very satisfied with my previous video of the ride. So recently I shot a new video.
As those of you who has rode the ride may know, there is a screen on the vehicle (actually two, one for the front row and another for the back). Elmo frequently appears on the screen to talk to you.

This new video includes the screen on the vehicle in which Elmo interacts with many ride elements. It is important for fully understanding the story.
Please enjoy the new video of the ride! Watch it in 1080p!

Universal Studios Singapore FIrework: Lake Hollywood Spectacular

I had much pleasure viewing "Lake Hollywood Spectacular" with my friend today. We had a great dinner in KT's Grill which gave us private firework viewing area at the balcony of the restaurant (I will talk about this in a another post)!

Please enjoy the photos as I love them very much.

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at Shanghai Disneyland

Update 9/19:

Disney has released a photo via Twitter, showing the testing of the mine car at Magic Kindom.

To my great surprise, the station appears to have panels covering the actual track, making the cars resemble those slot cars in Radiator Spring Racers and Test Track. It is a nice touch as they look much more like mine cars instead of baskets installed on a coaster. It could also be because of  safety issues, as the carts can swing left and right. Covering the tracks may help to ensure guests don't fall into the dangerous areas when boarding.

Hotel Construction Begins at Shanghai Disney Resort

Several Chinese news websites have reported that hotel construction has begun at Shanghai Disney Resort.
While they attached the following photo of the construction, they did not reveal the name of the hotel.

As you may know, there will be 2 hotels ready at the opening of Shanghai Disney Resort. One is more luxurious while the other is more economical with a Toy Story theme.

Perhaps this means both of them are being constructed now. So stay tuned!

My Co-workers!

In this post I will talk about some of my co-workers in the pier!
In Surfside Pier, there are different games and ride operated by associates. They are very friendly and hard-working.

This is Jocene. She is from NUS! She operates this game in which you can win candies by guessing the final position of the spinning arrow.

Shanghai Disneyland Connection Section Plan

Hi. I am now working in Morey's Piers as a ride operator, but I have not forgotten Shanghai Disneyland! This is a new update about the park as I have obtained a new official plan for the resort!
This is the plan for the Connection Section, which will be used as the connection between public bus terminal, subway station, the park and the hotels.

"Main Street USA"?!

This is a lovely street I found in Cape May. This is a shopping and dinning complex located in the center of the town. I am surprised by its resemblance to "Main Street USA" in Disneyland. I spent a wonderful afternoon window shopping and dining.

Beautiful Houses of Cape May

Cape May is the south end of New Jersey, not far from Wildwood (where I currently live). I went there to watch whales (which I did not actually see), but to my surprise, I found these beautiful houses along the road. Unlike Wildwood, the styles there are more diverse, which is really a delight to look at!

Ripley's Believe It Or Not

Ripley's Believe It Or Not is a weird museum. It houses the collection of Ripley, which consists largely of strange things around the world.

One Day Trip in New York

The first city I visited in the US is New York. It is a 3-hour bus trip from Wildwood to New York, so I need to start really early.

The Town of Wildwood, New Jersey

Morey's Piers is located in Wildwood, New Jersey. It is a small city, but it can get very busy in the summer. However, since I am here early, I get to enjoy the quiet period before visitors flood here for vacation. Let's take a tour around the town.

Life As A Ride Operator at Morey's Piers

I have started working at Morey's Piers!
Today is my first day of work, and it was both tough and fun!
There is a lot I want to talk about but I will have to rest soon so that I can serve the guests better tomorrow.
However, there is one thing I would like to show you now.

Yes, that is my name tag! I am finally getting one my own!

I will share with you more about the life as a ride operator in the following days.

"DreamLights" Tokyo Disneyland Electrical Parade

While the daytime parade is spectacular, what left me overwhelmed was the night-time parade. Having not been to the U.S.(but soon will!), this was the first time for me watching an electrical parade, and it was magical. I let the pictures take over now.

"Jubilation!" The Recently Replaced Tokyo Disneyland Parade

I visited Tokyo Disney Resort last year and it was an incredible experience!
This year the park is celebrating its 30th anniversary and it has launched a new parade "Happiness Is Here". While I love the new song and the floats of the new parade, I think it is a good time to share some pictures of  "Jubilation!" here!

Introducing this self-designed killing machine - "Ouch".
There was one day when I really wanted to draw a machine, but I was surprised that it turned out to be fatal...

Meet Morey's Piers, My Summer Workplace, and its Great Movie Rides!

I signed up for a program named "Work and Travel USA". It is a program for foreign students to work in an American theme park and travel around the states when they finish their job.

I was excited by the chance to work in a theme park and travel. I have never been to the states and I have always wanted to experience it myself.

There are several parks we can choose from, such as Cedar Point and Six Flags. I chose Morey's Piers eventually because it seemed to be a great place to work at.

First Official Shanghai Disneyland Model Unveiled

I am so excited that Disney has revealed the first official Shanghai Disneyland Model!
This picture shows the area in front of the castle, featuring two classic attractions.
The left and smaller one is probably Dumbo and the right one is a Merry Go 'Round style attraction.
We also see several fountains in the water bodies.
I also noticed some Meet and Greet areas around the place.
What is interesting about this picture is that there is a Christmas Tree at the center of the square.
I guess it's probably because when the park opens (at the end of 2015), it's Christmas season!
I just can't wait!

Sesame Street the Ride Construction

2 / 18 Update:

This will probably be the last update of this post, as the opening date for the ride has been determined!

Sesame Street Spaghetti Space Chase will open on 1st March!
Check out the video below. The video also indicated that a "Street Carnival" will be held on the opening day.

Sesame Street Spaghetti Space Chase !

Sesame Street Spaghetti Space Chase is finally done.

Today, Universal Studios Singapore held an Annual Pass Preview event which allows AP holders to experience the ride weeks before the public do. Unlike Transformers, the ride does not go through a technical rehearsal so today is the first chance I get to ride this attraction.

Shanghai Disney Resort Hotel (Toy Story Theme)

Shanghai Disneyland will have a hotel of the shape of "8", and its "Toy Story theme" is (almost) confirmed now.
The following picture was found on Shanghai News Net.
As you may see, the entrance to the hotel will be sheltered by an orange structure (which, in my view, looks like "RC Racers"). The two gardens are reported to have "totally different designs", representing the concept of "Yin and Yang" in the Chinese culture.

The following are the plans for the walls of the hotel, found on "Shanghai Environment Online". The exterior of the hotel will be covered with glass panels (the different types of blue and green blocks shown in the pictures. The green panels represent glass panels that can be opened, which will probably be the windows in the guest rooms).

Shanghai Disneyland Administration Building Plan

A new plan was released for Shanghai Disneyland! However, this one is less exciting, as it is a triangle-shaped administration building located at the north-west corner of the resort.

But it's better than nothing, right?

Whip Killer (An One-page Comic Featuring Me)

This is an one-page comic featuring me. I did it just for fun.
The basic concept is that a random person (played by me) encounters a killer (played by me as well) with a whip and is killed.

Short Flim: Promise

This is a short film our group put together for a course (GEK2020 Introduction to Film Art) in NUS. It is the first time we did a short film, so we were not very experienced.

This is a story about keeping a promise. Please enjoy!

“Murdered to Death” - Behind the Scenes of KE VII Hallplay 2013

“Murdered to Death” is the production of KE VII Hallplay 2013. I was extremely lucky to be chosen as one of the cast members and I did had fun preparing and performing. Now I would like to present you a behind-the-scenes tour of the production.

This is the set. Isn't it wonderfully done? I will show your some of the details later.

One Day in Hong Kong Disneyland (Part 2/2)

In the last part I visited Main Street U.S.A., Tomorrowland and Adventureland. This time ,we head to the back of the park to check out Grizzly Gulch, Mystic Point, Toy Story Playland and Fantasyland.

As we pass by the Jungle Cruise's lake, we come across a path that leads us to Grizzly Gulch. It is true that Grizzly Mountain is a fairly short mountain, but it certainly does not fail to attract everyone's attention.

"Wreck-it Ralph" Is My New Favorite!

"Wreck-it Ralph" is my new favorite animation! It was on in Singapore on Dec 20.
As a gamer, I was crying throughout the show. At first the tears are for the familiar characters I saw from different games (Bowser, PAC-MAN and so on). Later I was moved by the Sugar Rush sequence as well.

I could't be more excited about the sequel to it, as there is report that, the one and only, Mario may be joining in!

Let's Play Puzzle! (The Whole Shanghai Disney Resort)

Today I came up with this idea that I should place all the released (or leaked) plans together to find out how the whole resort will look like. This will be updated when new plans are released in the future. This is the first map I put together!

To my great surprise, the first phase of Shanghai Disneyland, though is already quite large, only occupies about half of the land reserved for the first park!
This is of course fantastic news, as the park will not worry about room for expansion.
It thrills me to think about how enormous the park will be when it's fully expanded.
